Over the past week, I have had some really freaky dreams. Dreams that made absolutely no sense to me. I thought I was doing well, losing weight, and feeling better, and getting some extra walking time in, etc. I had no idea, that what I would be experiencing this past week, were warning signs I was slowly killing my body!
I began having "spells" of passing out, the room would sway, and I would take a what I considered a power nap, not realizing that my brain was screaming "Help!"
We have been taught over the years that not everything is as it appears. To listen to warning signs, red flags, and other things, when danger is about. Did I learn anything or have I become accustomed to ignoring things, because I thought I could control my own life?
I have given much thought to the past 18 hours, as I laid in the Emergency room yesterday. The doctors thinking I was having a heart attack, not knowing what was going on.
The doctor, after sending a team into my room, placing heart monitor wires, ECG and EKG wires all around my body, checking my blood pressure, which was at an all time low. Another team came in to draw 12 vials of blood from my arm.. after the 10th time of sticking me with needles of various sizes, because I have such tiny veins, they finally made their mark, leaving me a huge hematoma about 5 inches long and 2 inches wide.
After that, I was sent to XRay, and then for a CT scan, as My arm was swollen from a sprain. 2 hours later, the Doctor comes back into my room, and started asking me questions, concerning the fluids I drink.
I have discovered, that too much water can deplete the existing electrolytes from your body, if you are not replacing them with a beverage called Gaterade, and similar drinks that also has plenty of electrolytes as well.
The test results were in, what the doector told me put me into a state of shock, as she told me by body was 98% dehydrated, and my system was at 0% electrolytes, a condition if not taken care of could cause death!
Why am I telling you this? Because, I had no idea, that electrolytes were, what they do, and how important they are. Maybe I had learned it years ago in health class, but how many of us really stay on top of things, unless one is geared into health?
My brain and system was shutting down, because I had not taken care of it properly. I almost came to the end, it definitely could have been a fatality.
I thank God that my friend insisted I go to the hospital yesterday, otherwise I wouldn't be here today.
Please be aware, if you are feeling light headed, for no apparent reason, it is your brain telling you, it is going on a vacation, and it needs something and fast.
Don't let this warning be the last thing you read.
A total of 5 people were in the emergency room that day for the same symptoms I had. 5 people, who could have avoided and Emergency Room, if they knew how important it is to keep your body flowing in electrolytes.
Electrolytes keep nerves functioning, your kidneys functioning, your liver, and your brain. Plus, it keeps your skin from drying out. Amazingly, for these little unknown facts almost killed me. 3 weeks ago, my kidneys went heywire, my skin was peeling like crazy, and I was passing out.
Be good to yourself. Read and take notice of your brain, when it is trying to tell you something important.
